# 34 Macro

I love my macro lens. It has an extension tube so I can shoot even closer. I also have a ring flash for it. When the camera is all together, it looks impressive. I might have to show a picture of it at some point. Anyway, I love taking macro pictures of flowers, it’s crazy how much detail you can see. The flower veins (I know that’s not the right term but I don’t care, I’m not looking it up) are really interesting to me.

# 19 Circles

I was originally thinking I was going to do something with coins but that idea ended up not appealing to me too much. I’m still going to do something with coins, I just don’t know quite what yet. I did like how this came out though. And since I’m the one making the rules, I say it fits.

# 44 Collection

I collect books. I suppose you can say I collect bookshelves too but that number is tiny in comparison. There’s a Japanese term called “tsundoku” that means to acquire reading material but to let them pile up without reading them. I suppose I’m a little guilty of that. I won’t even tell you how long my to-read pile is. That said, I DO read, I just buy faster. This picture has all books I have read but not all the books I have read, if that makes any sense. There’s another bookcase with unread books. And another one with cookbooks. I may have an addiction.

#10 Lightning

I have to confess, I cheated again. We don’t really get lightning in Southern California (I also have to confess that I REALLY miss the thunderstorms of New York City). I bought one of those lightning globe things, the kind you touch and it shoots to your hand. As I am the one setting the rules for this endeavor, I’m going to say it’s fair game.Lights 1

#1 Motion

I didn’t really want to do the normal things you would see for motion. No cars, nothing with the wind. I saw these guys playing handball at Venice Beach. The ball is blurred, so is the first gentleman (a little anyway). Watching them play was crazy, I can’t believe how fast they were.VB 11

#17 Solitude

I have to be honest, it’s not my most favorite picture. However, I do think it conveys the idea of solitude. I have a huge fear of being stranded alone in the ocean (I know, I know, it’s never going to happen but still….). He was sitting on his surfboard waiting for a wave to come in (tiny waves or I would have shot some of them) and he just looked so alone.VB 10

#20 Street Portrait

A while ago, I joined the Kickstarter for LightBox Photography Cards.  (Just as an aside, I’m not affiliated with them, not getting paid to put the link in there.) It’s a series of 52 cards with different things to shoot to give you some ideas or inspiration. I’m going to try to get through all of them this year, just not in order. Here’s my first one for card #20: Street Portrait. If you’re interested, here’s the link: https://lightbox-photography-cards.myshopify.com/VB 12
